Y's Spring/Summer 2020
Further blurring the lines between menswear and womenswear, Y’s and their latest seasonal range have done with staples what they always do. Loose, oversized looks near dominate the entire aesthetic with the surprising addition of color sprinkled throughout in seldom.
This, which takes the form of stunning blue parkas and indigo-dyed dresses, mostly takes a back seat despite their noteworthy contrast. More often than not, a neutral ensemble steals the show as it drives forward interesting textures, distressing, and flow near emblematic of the label at its most raw. These frayed edges and loose stitches are most apparent on the standout dresses and overcoats, ones whose accompaniments delve into variety with many drawn out clean and others stripped down for the warmer weather ahead. Blazers follow suit with embellishments few yet mighty while the more feminine pieces line up in polka dots, all-over graphics, and much more. Unassuming garments such as the shirting and trousers act more as backdrops to the slew of vest-like tops whose constructions are either a see-through netting, a spaghetti strap with cut up torsos, or knits with frayed hems.
