Studio Nicholson Focuses on Japanese Production for Their Unisex SNJP Line
What had started off as fascination for the culture of Japan, Studio Nicholson’s many inspired creations have never forgotten designer Nick Wakeman’s first experience with the city of Tokyo way back in 1999. Coming full circle, the collections themselves have reached their ultimate evolution with a quality-focused Made in Japan line entitled minimally as “SNJP.”
Essentially a case study of materials and their placements, the range is largely driven by its production of choice as cutting-edge technology and centuries of refined technique culinate in a display of typewriter cottons, enduring Cordura, and even washi paper. Unisex offerings favor the oversized and the andorgynous, preferring to lie on the more simple side of design: this, which is likely geared to expand in the near future, entails oversized fleece knit jumpers, strong, wide cut pants, and even car coats in smooth indigo shades. Accompanying basics by way of side slit shirting, ribbed beanies, socks, and half-zip pullovers create a strong basis on which the constructions can shine uninhibited.
