Silver Mag Celebrates Iconic Branding with “street semiotics” Editorial
Throughout each and every one of Silver Mag’s issued editorials, there exists cohesion among the styling and visual imagery, both coming together to form a set piece of obvious foresight. But now, as the public worldwide floods to quarantine, the publication is taking a small step back to celebrate not just clothing itself but the icons whose logos have become instantly recognizable.
Appropriate to its simple concept, the range of looks opt for basic layering and cozy wearables, with graphic tops the clear center of attention. Labels such as Stussy, WTAPS, UNDERCOVER, Supreme, FPAR, Wacko Maria, and quite a few others let display their simplest text-led insignia -- most boasting a timeless typeface and contrasting screen prints. Other than the California-based icon’s elegant embroidery atop denim barn coats, most of the aforementioned make full use of sweatshirts and tees with their signatures dressing the center torso in all sorts of manners. Some are straightforward with just the brand’s namesake at the helm while others, such as Jun Takahashi, further exhibit their minimal iconography.
