Mountain Research Gives a Hiking Makeover to the DMX Trail Shadow

Mountain Research Gives a Hiking Makeover to the DMX Trail Shadow

Kobayashi Setsumasa’s label Mountain Research debuts its first collaboration with Reebok as they remix utilitarian details, hiking aesthetics, and traditional Japanese heritage to the already technical DMX Trail Shadow silhouette.

The “Yellow Soil” model, already telling of its nature-oriented purpose in its name, takes Mountain Research’s backcountry design study into the stripped down version of the footwear piece. The only remaining element from the original model is the iconic crampon-inspired cage, eliminating all reflective weldings and embosses. A sturdy camel colorway nubuck upper replaces the once mesh upper with the bold yellow colorway infused into structure elements placed along the outsole. Additional design details include upper perforations in place of the vector logo, Mountain Research’s iconic slogan “civil disobedience anarchists mountaineers saunterer + punks.” under the tongue, and the Mountain Research logo at the tongue face.

Take a closer look at the collaboration footwear piece below and expect the Mountain Research x Reebok DMX Trail Shadow to release through Mountain Research on April 17, before launching globally and on Reebok on April 24.
