Performance Meets Luxury in Salomon Sportstyle x Comme Des Garçons Collaboration
Coming together for the Autumn/Winter ‘21 season, Salomon Sportstyle and Comme Des Garçons have tweaked and modified the XA-Alpine Mid and Cross styles in a fitting way.
Coming from two different sectors of the industry, Comme Des Garçons has brought their Avante-garde spec to Salomon Sportstyle’s function-focused aesthetic. With the XA-Alpine Mid and Cross footwear models acting as a basis for the collaboration, they have been brought up to speed and reimagined for a new consumer. The XA-Alpine Mid, for example, is a candid fusion of clean, minimal design delivered through a functional lens with touches like a protective outer layer shielding the foot from the elements, a strap to keep your foot locked in and Chevron-shaped rubber grooves on the sole for increased traction. It is available in a minimal hue of either black or white. The second but final model is the Cross that features a unique upper made from a Houndstooth material that has been exclusively developed for this collaboration. In addition, it also features Salomon’s tried-and-tested Contagrip outsole for increased traction on unfamiliar terrain and, much like the XA-Alpine Mid, there is both Salomon and Comme Des Garçons branding.
These are currently available in Comme Des Garçons and Dover Street Market locations across the world but will see an online release on Thursday, October 28th from DSM.
