nanamica and The North Face Purple Label Team Up for Autumn/Winter ‘21 Capsule.
Longtime collaborators, nanamica and The North Face, have taken a slightly different approach to design for the latest ‘Purple Label’ capsule collection. Instead, the concept is rooted in ‘a design that crosses over the individuality of two brands with different ideas’ with a move towards the Japanese outdoor wear look that blossomed from the 1970s onwards.
Specifically geared for nanamica locations, the collection marries the day-to-day functional ethos of the aforementioned with The North Face’s technical expertise in outdoor wear, delivering a capsule that transcends gender, age and genres. With this in mind, the garments find themselves in a precarious position between both brands, but one that couldn’t be finished better.
The pair has developed a number of familiar styles across outerwear, luggage, bottoms, headwear, shirting and pullover tops including the Field Denali Cardigan, Moleskin Cargo Pants and Balmacaan Coat. Each garment has been designed through a function filtered lens as materials like COOLMAX® and PRIMALOFT® are second nature, further weather-proofed with the use of water repellent treatings. One standout piece from the capsule is the 65/35 Balmacaan Coat which expresses a timeless silhouette with added functionality. Crafted using a 65/35 Bayhead Cloth blend on the exterior with a water-repellent coating, it features COOLMAX® cotton on the lining and PRIMALOFT® insulation. Finishing touches include original glossy buttons, a detachable hood and a one-pattern design for the sleeve which tweaks the silhouette ever so slightly, allowing it to effortlessly drape through the shoulder.
The capsule collection will be exclusively available in Japan (Saturday, 18th September) from the following nanamica retail locations: Tokyo, Kobe, Daikanyama, Fukuoka, as well as their online store.
