UNDERCOVER Pays Homage to Pink Floyd for Spring/Summer '23
First teased during Paris Fashion Week in 2022, Jun Takahashi’s namesake label, UNDERCOVER, has tapped the progressive rock band, Pink Floyd, for a number of pieces within its Spring/Summer ‘23 range.
As it stands, Jun and UNDERCOVER are no strangers to referencing cultural artefacts from the 1970s onwards, a pivotal era for progressive music and film which spurred on a generation of young designers, including Takahashi himself. In the past, we have seen UNDERCOVER make reference to the rock band, Television, and their Adventure and Marquee Moon albums, as well as a number of Stanley Kubrick productions, including A Clockwork Orange and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
For Spring/Summer ‘23, though, they have incorporated a number of graphics from albums such as ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’, ‘Atom Heart Mother’ and ‘Wish You Were Here’, all of which are iconic in their own right for one reason or another. The lineup consists of bomber jackets, mod coats with half sleeves, sweatshirts, denim jackets and more. The white parka, for instance, features artwork from Wish You Were Here in the form of a still from the music video and the iconic handshake.
