WTAPS and sacai Develop a Capsule Collection Exclusively for 'Hello sacai' Pop-Up
In a somewhat unexpected turn of events, the worlds of WTAPS and sacai, which operate on separate planes, have come together to develop a capsule collection exclusively for ‘Hello sacai’.
The collaboration between the two benchmark Japanese labels sees the WTAPS Mill series serve as the focal point for sacai to explore in its distinctive way. At the forefront of the capsule are two military-inspired pieces, one shirt and one pair of bottoms, that are fundamental interpretations of the ‘WMILL-LS 01’ and ‘WMILL-LS 02’ shirt alongside the 6-pocket ‘WMILL-TROUSER 01’ and ‘WMILL-TROUSER 02’, respectively. Both styles are crafted in line with WTAPS patterns using sacai’s signature nylon twill with additions of ripstop and back satin material in the right places.
Styled by the highly-esteemed stylist Akio Hasegawa, previously of Popeye Magazine, the shoot explores layering through excess volume and oversized silhouettes.
