Mountain Research References Old Signatures with the Reebok Alien Stomper
Born of a pre-established interest in the Alien Stomper silhouette, Mountain Research’s latest collaborative project with Reebok effectively channels their lesser known roots as the humble but vigorously innovative General Research imprint.
Though a quick follow-up to their Japan exclusive DMX Trail Shadow, the pair is certainly far distinct. A clean and full white coloring replaces that of the aforementioned’s bright and vibrant yellows -- a seemingly straightforward execution that may bring about some nostalgia for long-time fans as the legendary designer Setsumasa Kobayashi often delved into a series of achromatic high-tops years ago. Now, alongside the anarchic mountaineering themes, the Alien Stomper runs replete with text throughout the side profile, the ankle flaps, and even the heel, each either touting something in the vein of instructions or seemingly random ramblings of “NEVER BEEN TO THE MOON.”
