Mountain Research x Reebok 'Classic'
Previous offerings between Reebok and Mountain Research has seen the pair work on the Alien Stomper and DMX Trail Shadow, but this time around we see something more akin to Reebok’s heritage: the Reebok Classic, a footwear icon steeped in subcultural history.
In an age where trainers are often over-detailed, this collaboration proves that less is more. The ‘Classic’ silhouette has been constructed using a two-tone black and white leather upper, inspired by the look of saddle shoes, which is the epitome of clean and subtle. While the end result is minimal, there are a couple of details that round it off including a Mountain Research graphic on the outside and inside of the tongue. With all things considered, the end product is an expertly-crafted, high-quality but ‘detail-less’ shoe, a fair successor to the Alien Stomper. This is a collaboration that will, thanks to Setsumasa Kobayashi of Mountain Research, be a nostalgia trip for long-time fans of the silhouette.
