Loutre.Lab and Carhartt WIP Develop a Conceptual One-Off Capsule Collection
With an emphasis on preserving material resources and honored design practices, Carhartt WIP and Loutre.Lab have come together to create a series of one-off pieces.
Inspired by Carhartt team rider Maité Steenhoudt’s recent journey to London, the joint initiative sees the pair develop conceptual upcycled garments with a technical twist; the product of which is two outfits catered to winter and spring.
For Winter, the focus is placed on increasing durability and abrasion resistance by way of placing paneled kevlar patches in high-impact areas, with wool to act as a sharp contrast. When Summer is concerned, both the trousers and jacket have been designed with adaptability in mind: zips are fitted to convert trousers to shorts and jackets to gilets so that they can be adapted to the conditions. Both Winter and Summer play with durability in their own way, inherently creating a more sustainable product.
