Junya Watanabe MAN Autumn/Winter '23-24
Since its unveiling during Paris Fashion Week, Junya Watanabe MAN Autumn/Winter ‘23 has garnered significant attention from long-time Junya fans and those who have been attracted to the brand from this collection alone.
Replete with utilitarian detailing and the usual Junya motifs of patchwork and workwear-inspired styling, the Autumn/Winter ‘23 collection consists of a hearty array of outerwear, tailoring, bottoms and more. In line with Junya’s familiar style of deconstructing everyday items, whether they be clothing or not, we see Junya Watanabe MAN join forces with the Berlin-born brand, Innerraum, which has aided in developing clothing from unordinary objects, like bicycle helmets and motor-related gear. Throughout the collection, there is a particular emphasis on the colour black, besides the coyote brown patchwork coat and sports coat, which is unlike the designer’s previous work.
Most notably, Junya has drummed up a plethora of collaborations across its more street-style-oriented outerwear styles with existing partners like The North Face, Carhartt and Karrimor. Perhaps to the surprise of many, Junya has tapped Palace Skateboards in a balance between the ever-crossing worlds of streetwear and high fashion. To tie things up, expect to see exclusive footwear styles developed in conjunction with the likes of Timberland and New Balance, abiding by the blacked-out theme.
