Engineered Garments and Post-Imperial Reveals a Vibrant Summer Capsule
Engineered Garments, one branch of the sprawling Nepenthes family, has collaborated with Post Imperial – a New-York based label with strong roots in Nigeria – on a small capsule collection for Spring/Summer ’19.
When it comes to Engineered Garments and collaborations, it is often about slightly re-working the product in a unique way; whether that be a different type of fabric or material used. So, with the help of the bold and progressive prints from Post-Imperial, it’s a striking combination. Both labels hail from New York, but they have incorporated traditional African ‘Batik’ techniques only used in parts of South-Western Nigeria whereby the fabric is first treated with wax, which acts as a resistant to the dye, and is then dipped in a vat of dye. This creates complex multicoloured designs as we see in this collaboration. The capsule consists of a variety of pieces, all of which will be familiar to Engineered Garments fans - two variations of their Loiter Jacket, two styles of the Bucket Hat, a pair of Ghurka shorts and graphic tees.
The capsule collection is available now from the Nepenthes web-store.
